Tartine, Restaurant London

{tartine [tarRtin] nf slice of bread}
Collins French Dictionary

Tartine first opened in April 2002 on Draycott Avenue, London SW3, with the aim of introducing a new and exciting concept into the restaurant world.

The tartine concept is based on the traditional French dish known as a "tartine". A tartine is similar in style to the Italian bruschetta and they are ideal as a main course or shared "tapas" style. At tartine we use Poilâne; a famous French sourdough bread that is made daily at their Belgravia bakery. The bread is lightly toasted with olive oil and served with delicious seasonal ingredients and a fresh house salad.

Alongside our tartines we also serve a variety of soups, salads, pasta, meat and fish dishes.

At Tartine we offer fresh, great quality and good value food. We also have a vibrant and affordable wine list, premium brand spirits, beers and soft drinks, specially blended and roasted coffee and freshly squeezed juices.

Tartine is the perfect place for coffee, brunch, a light lunch, afternoon tea, early evening cocktails or a relaxed dinner.

Reviews

“It's a civilised place, with civilised prices... it’s stream-lined, fast, clever, simple and chic and one of the few places in South Ken to sell you something decent for less than 10 quid. I’d queue for that.” – Terry Durack – The Independent
“At last, all-day dining in a part of London poorly served by inexpensive, quality restaurants…food here seems to be made with that most vital ingredient – love. High point: delicious and inexpensive. Low point: Already packed out at lunchtime. – Jeremy Wayne – The Guardian
“The simple menu ranges from mozzarella, tomato and basil to Serrano, manchego, rocket and quince jam. I had a minute steak with caramelised onions and chips. It was exactly as it promised to be: ideal if you are very hungry. The blonde had feta with chargrilled vegetables. Very good feta. A blameless little pit-stop.” – A.A. Gill – Sunday Times
“For an excellent mini-meal, this buzzing and sophisticated snackery – has many admirers.” – Hardens
“Fresh and imaginative food – great for a light bite or quick drink….rapidly becoming a celeb-spotting venue.” – Square Meal
“The look is friendly and modern, with a ‘make yourself at home’ atmosphere…Tartine’s philosophy of fresh ingredients and friendly service are pleasantly surprising.” – Australian Vogue Living
“Stop off here for a quick fix of rare roast beef and horseradish in one of the private booths, which are perfect for swapping secrets over girlie lunches. Service is very slick and quick.” – Tatler
